SabotenCon – Phoenix’s Anime Convention [Upcoming Event]
Otaku’s, rejoice! Three days of glory will soon descend upon you!
In a couple of weeks you can wave goodbye to regular colored hair (and regular sized boots) and head on over to SabotenCon for a three day celebration of all things anime.
(I’ve been known to enjoy some Stand Alone Complex, Evangelion, and Trigun here and there, myself.)
The fine folks over at SabotenCon have asked me to blog for them, so of course I said yes because I love the attention local geek adventures.
- Friday, Sept 30th – Oct 2nd.
- At the Hilton Squaw Peak Resort in Phoenix.
- Many bands and voice actors shall abound.
- As well as other prominent figures in “the biz.”
- Events include everything you’d expect from a solid anime convention.
- (Masquerades, video gaming, AMV contests, people watching, etc.)

This weekend, Arizona turns into a Kingdom of Loathing, meets an original Ghostbuster, has a mini-comic-book-convention, and shoots space bugs.
And lo, the geeks went forth and swarmed yon desert with their might.
And verily, they partied down. Verily.

Doodle Night! [Glendale]
- A perfect chance to casually hang with the AZ’s comic artist/writers scene.

KolCon 8 [Mesa]
- Is an adventurer you?!

EncrediCon 2! [Mesa]
- An entire (almost) comicon crammed into Downtown Mesa!
- Cosplaying, local comic and video game artists, and even a SciFi Fashion Show.
- Starts around 6pm with events until 10pm.

Galaga Tournament [Phoenix]
- Die, space bees, die!!
- Prove to the universe that you’re ready to defend it against evil pixels.

Sketches For Charity [Tempe]
- If you enjoy combining your love of booth babes with charity, here’s another chance.
- Hang with artists and cosplayers to benefit the Phoenix Childrens Hospital.

Advanced Screenings of Harry Potter [Chandler & Scottsdale]
- I know of two advance showings happening at 7pm Thursday night; both for charity.
- One for A Special Connection Foundation at San Tan Harkins in Chandler.
- And one for The Phoenix Film Foundation at Shea Harkins in Scottsdale.

Friday, July 15th
- Dust off that Phoenix Comicon costume and head up to Flag!
- Anime Kaigi 2011 is a full blown Anime convention happening all weekend long.
- It boasts the usual offerings such as voice actors, masquerades, and loads of cosplaying.

Harry Potter Improv Shows [Scottsdale]
- Masters of short-form improv, The Jester’z are donning scarves and robes this weekend.
