5 Awesomely Nerdy Things To Do This Weekend In Phoenix [WE 07/28]

fireflydinosaurs

This weekend, Phoenix parties with dinosaurs, giant robots, The Doctor, and some very dirty pirates.

Get out and have fun this weekend, you crazy kids.

Thursday, July 25th

Dr Who Night [Phoenix]

Fact: I am now caught up on Dr Who episodes. That means if I were to go to this event, I’d be able to enjoy all the Whovian goodness without fear of picking up any spoilers. Check it out here at 6:30pm - looks like it may become a weekly thing. Just remember, whatever you do – don’t blink.

Saturday, July 27th

DinoCon! [Mesa]

*Sold Out* It’s DinoCon, a mini-convention about dinosaurs in pop culture. That means Jurassic Park. That means Dinobots. That means it’s probably going to be radical to the max. Taking place from noon to 4pm at The Starlight Theater, in the Arizona Museum of Natural History. Check out my original post about DinoCon 2013 for a few more details.

Pirate Mud Wrestling [Phoenix]

It’s pirate mud wrestling. Just go. At Revolver Records from 7pm to 10pm.

80′s Party [Phoenix]

I don’t know much about this one, but I figure any excuse to go all out 80′s is worth mentioning. Could be cool, could be freaky deaky, could be both. Starts at 10pm at Sochu House.

Sunday, July 28th

Saboten Super Sunday [Phoenix]

If you enjoyed Pacific Rim (I did), you may enjoy spending an afternoon geeking out over the millions of other giant-robots-punching-giant-monsters-in-the-face franchises out of Japan. From 11am to 6pm, the AZ Collector’s Marketplace is all about Godzilla, Super Sentai, Ultraman, Voltron, and more.
