This weekend, Phoenix travels through time and space, visits worlds of fantasy, hacks, plays, asks geek trivia, and more.

Holy buckets there’s a lot to do this weekend. Better get on it:

Friday, March 22nd

Con-Ichiwa 2013 [Tucson]

In the mood for a weekend of anime, manga, and cosplaying? Head down south and embed yourself into the world of otakus for a few days. Con-Ichiwa is happening at the Holiday Inn Tucson Airport-North all weekend.

Learn all about it on their site.

CactusCon 2013 [Tempe]

Or, if hacking is more your thing, there’s a one-day hacker conference going on in Tempe. They were able to Kickstart the thing to keep attendance free, which is kinda cool. Check it out at Dave & Busters at the Tempe Marketplace from about 9am to 6pm.

Learn more on CactusCon’s site.

*Added* FIRST Robot Competition [Chandler]

I’m told there is some robot battling going on at a local high school. You should go. Robots. Battle.

Beat The Geek Challenge #2 [Phoenix]

Join up and face “experts” in either Sci-Fi Film trivia or Horror Film trivia. Champions shall rise and fall. Take your shot at some VIP passes to the Phoenix Film Festival, or just show up and enjoy the carnage. From 6pm – 7pm at Bookmans Phoenix.

Think you have what it takes to Beat The Geek? Learn more.

Chris Tucker [Phoenix]

How can I not mention that Ruby Rhod himself is coming?! He’s doing stand-up at the Celebrity Theater around 8pm. Of course, tickets aren’t cheap. You may need a multi-pass. We green? (I can keep going.)

Check it out and get tickets.

Return of The Midnite Movie Mamacita [Phoenix]

Our local Queen of B-Movies (and a fellow PUGS organizer) is back, starting up her signature late-night madness once again. It all starts with Black Snake at The Film Bar at 10pm.

Whip it good!

Saturday, March 23rd

Escape The Walkers: Zombie 5k [Tucson]

Finally, you can combine your love of the insatiable undead with your love of running for your life! Shamblers will be unleashed on willing 5k’ers down in Tucson. It looks like a few tickets are still available if you’re game.

*Added* GI Joe Art At Collector’s Marketplace [Phoenix]

Benjamin at Jackalope Ranch has the down-low on some GI Joe action going on this weekend. Check out his article:

Learn more, because knowing is half the battle. (Too easy?)

Glenmorangie Arizona Scottish Highland Festival [Phoenix]

If  you like kilts, archery, giant swords, and epic beards, I have great news! The 49th Annual Arizona Scottish Gathering 7 Highland Games is here to bagpipe the crap out of your weekend. At Steele Indian School Park in Phoenix. Now re-read with a Scottish accent.

Check it out before we get a piper down (doon?).

Time Travelers at The RenFest [Way Out There]

Your time to attend this year’s Renaissance Festival is running out, unless you have a TARDIS, which the RenFest will actually happen to have this weekend. In addition to everyone’s favorite blue box, they’ll have a “time travelers” costume contest the next day as well.

Brandon Mull [Tempe]

Beyonders fans, rejoice! Meet the man himself at Changing Hands for fantasy chit-chat, reading, and signing. Starts at 7pm. Buying a book isn’t required to attend, but it does get you a seat.

Get the details at Changing Hands’ site.

Sunday, March 24th

Terry Brooks [Tempe]

Get some good sleep then come right back to Changing Hands to meet fantasy legend Terry Brooks. This time at 2pm. Show up early!

Again, details over at Changing Hands’ site.

Let me know what I may have missed or what sounds cool to you!
