This weekend, Geek Arizona writes, howls, frolics, time warps, and bewitches.

From good writing to bad movies, fantasy festivals to science fiction parties, this weekend boasts a very broad range of activities for any geek.

YA Genre Writing Panel [Tempe]

  • The YA scene has many great SF and Fantasy books that are doing well lately.
  • Urban Fantasy and Distopian novels seem to be doing especially well – just look at The Hunger Games.
  • If you want in on the action, swing by Changing Hands Bookstore at 7pm.
  • A group of YA authors, including local fantasy author, Jon S Lewis, will be sharing a panel on YA Fiction, with a focus on genre writing.
  • Check it, yo.

Friday, Mar 18th

Werewolf [Casa Grand]

  • Oh, how I hope you’ve seen the Mystery Science Theater 3000 version of Werewolf. It’s just great.
  • The Midnight Movie Mamacita is bringing this superbly awful movie to us this weekend with it’s own crowd-sourced version of riffing – MUVChat.
  • At Blackbox Theaters, starting at 8pm.
  • Bite into these details.

Saturday, Mar 19th

Faerie Frolic Day [Gilbert]

  • Stressed out about life?
  • Try some light to moderate frolicking to lift your spirits.
  • Costumes, musicians (I’m guessing predominantly Celtic), fantasy artists, adorable children with poofy dresses – it’s all here.
  • From 10am to 7pm on someone’s property in Gilbert. Here’s a map.
  • Check out their site for the details.

TARDIS Party! [Chandler]

  • Free sketches and The Doctor on the screen all day at Atomic Comics Chandler.
  • At noon they’ll bring out an actual custom-made TARDIS cake!
  • Costume, fan art, and trivia contests will follow.
  • Here’s the flyer!

Sunday, Mar 20th
