Open wide for your weekly dose of bite-sized buzz and tid-bits surrounding Arizona’s geek culture.

As I closed my eyes and listened to the cosmic rhythm of the valley this last week, a few things made my ears twitch:

Local YA Author Jon S Lewis has a fun contest going on.

  • By performing a laundry list of simple ways to spread-the-word about his new book, you can accumulate points to win some prizes.
  • Although I personally think that the 1st prize is way cooler than the grand prize.
  • Get all the details on his post.
  • So, does this get me 3pts? !

Rynaga and Iconica have a new Facebook page.

Devestation has announced some MvC3 Ranbats.

  • Which lead to me learning that “Ranbats” are Ranking Battles.
  • Join in, if you think you’re Marvel or Capcom enough.
  • Check out their blog for the details – they’re all going down at LAN Speed Games in Peoria.

Check out this Myth & Legends Six Shooter Jesse James variant cover.

An old school arcade (and art gallery) is opening up in Phoenix soon.

  • They open March 4th, but I’ve already added Cade Gallery to the map.
  • As more details come in, I’ll let you know more about the opening.

I launched Operation Octoshock this week.

  • It’s an awesome project with an awesomely bad name.
  • The goal is gather more information about the local geek culture, and organize it beyond the blog.
  • Shoot me a message if you’re a WordPress junkie, as I’d love to pick your brain sometime on the best way to compile it for readers.
  • And please participate over the upcoming weeks as I reach out for help consolidating!
