Let it never be said that I don’t have class, style, and culture – for today I write about legitimate theater!
Theater that farts in your geniral direction, true, but theater still.
I bet most of you can quote Monty Python and Holy Grail practically word for word, assuming you haven’t recently been turned into a newt (and gotten better, of course). It’s just one of those films that dug itself into geek culture’s huge tracks of land and got stuck.
Perhaps it’s because your mother was a hamster, and your father smelt of elderberries. We’ll never know, I suppose. It’s like asking what the average airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow is.
Well anyway, for those of you who are not dead yet and enjoy re-watching things you already love but with added musical scenes, Spamalot is coming to the Mesa Arts center next month. (But, it’s only a model.)
And whenever I think of Monty Python, I think of this scene from Freaks & Geeks where Sam Weir and his friends forget about their troubles by obtaining a 10mm copy of The Holy Grail for a week. The scene starts at about 4:11, but it includes Mr Fleck’s classic sermon on the lives of (jerk) Jocks vs Nerds.
