The Phoenix Lament is a new Harry Potter fan club here in the valley. And while, like most subjects, there is a spectrum that goes from casual enjoyment to all out Voldemort worship, these folks are probably happy to have all kinds. Especially those of us who shout “Expecto Patronum!” at just about anything.
Their website is actually kinda fun and has a calendar outlining major (but mythical) HP events throughout the year, including the characters birthdays. My personal favorite has always been Neville Longbottom though (I’m a sucker for lovable losers), so I only care about celebrating his birthday. Sorry, Voldey.
Here is their mission, in their own words:
“We, the members of The Phoenix Lament, strive to educate the general public about the magic of Harry Potter, and aim to raise awareness of the wonderful products the fandom community has brought to the world: products such as the Harry Potter Alliance, funds for book charities and drives, and so much more.
Passion for the story has fashioned inspiration for hundreds of thousands of people of all ages. As a group, we strive to become a known part of this fandom community in unity, strength, knowledge, and enthusiasm. Together, we will keep the fandom alive, though many will believe it to be the end of an era.
The Phoenix Lament hopes to bring Harry Potter fanatics from the Phoenix, Arizona area together to celebrate the series and its inspired hits, to commemorate the events that are marked down in Potter history, and to sustain a major part of our lives for many more years to come.”
I’ll give you one (and only one) big giant guess as to where this club gets together.
Okay, I’ll just tell you. Their next meeting is at Bookmans Phoenix (gasp!) in a month. Feb 20th from 3pm to 5pm.

I know it, only because I just re-read it 2 days ago XD
Ok, if this group was in around about 5-6 years ago, that could have been a blast to join up with them. I may just stop by in February and wear my Luna Lovegood-actual-roaring-lion hat! LONG LIVE THE DA!!
Do you seriously have that hat? If so, I want photographic evidence.
Yes, I made it for my sister when we went to the midnight release of book 6. She won first place. It was weird, because I couldn’t get a lion’s voice to record on the sound board, so I recorded myself “roaring” onto it. Through out the night, she would press the button and you could hear my “deep manly roar” play out. Fun night. Where do you want to picture sent?? Better yet? Video?
Yeah, totally video! Facebook or email works. Sheesh, proton pack and roaring lion hat. What’s next?
Um… well I want to look into doing something with steam punk… but I think my boyfriend would be upset if I take over the kitchen counter, again. LOL

dude, I would love to join this. only problem is there is no way to contact because it’s way past february and I’m a huge harry potter fan. like, everytime i watch the movies i tear up happy tears. yep. im pathetic. but i like it. anybody have any advice on where the next meet up is??
